Good fishing all summer long for brook and rainbow trout. | | Hat Creek, (15 miles east) Northern California's
Hat Creek is one of the west's best spring creeks. The upper stretch (15 miles in length) is heavily stocked with rainbow
trout but you can catch a lot of brown also (average 12"-20"). Seven campgrounds and four picnic areas are nestled

Lassen Volcanic National Park: The north entrance to the park is 7 miles east and the total Park area is 106,372 acres. All
four types of volcanoes in the world are found in the park. Over 150 miles of trails (A trail to the peak is shown at the
left) culturally significant scenic highway provide access to volcanic wonders including steam vents, mudpots, boiling

Bumpass Hell: Located
within the Lassen Volcanic National Park, it is the largest thermal area in the park, Bumpass Hell was named after an early
explorer (last name was Bumpass, poor fellow!) who lost a leg when he accidentally broke through a crust around a hot spring.
The hike to the area is 3 miles round-trip.

The McArthur-Burney Falls: Located 44 miles north east. The water flows over the falls at the same rate all year long, about 100 million
gallons every day. The strikingly clear, pure water comes from openings in the volcanic rock at and above the falls.

Subway Cave: Located 1/4 mile
north of the Highway 44/89 intersection near Old Station (21 miles north east) The Subway Cave Lava Tube is 1,300 feet long
and between 6 and 17 feet high. If you want to explore the Subway Cave, keep in mind that it is cold (46 degrees F.)
and dark. You should dress warmly and take a good flashlight with fresh batteries.

Hat Creek Radio Observatory: The
Radio Astronomy Observatory is operated by the University of California, Berkeley. The techniques of the radio astronomy
allow scientists to see into regions which are invisible to optical telescopes, and thus to explore the nature of planets,
stars and distant galaxies. It is located about 33 miles north east in the town of Hat Creek, California. For more information

Loomis Museum: Loomis Museum is
located at Manzanita Lake (8 miles east). An updated collection and display of local Native American artifacts,
geological presentations on the 1914 eruption of Lassen Peak. The Museum is named after Benjamin Loomis, the photographer
who took many pictures of the early twentieth century eruptions and originally built the building in 1926. For more

Shasta Dam: Located Just
52 miles away you'll find the second-largest dam in the United States, the keystone in the mighty Central Valley Project.
The Visitor's Center explains how the dam helped turn California into the richest agricultural region in the world.

Shasta Caverns: Located 56 miles north east
at Shasta Lake. In order to reach the Cavern entrance, they take you on a breathtaking cruise across the McCloud Arm
of Shasta Lake, then a scenic bus ride through part of the Grey-Rock Mountain forest. Once you reach the Cavern entrance,
their tour guide will take you to a stunning underground world full of magnificent surprises around every corner. For more
